I first saw the American guitarist Michael Hedges on an arts feature for Global Television. I was living in Sudbury with my brother putting together my first serious band. The television, a tiny black & white set with a coat hanger for an antenna, sat on one of our PA speakers. Even on that blurry set, Hedges' playing electrified me. I bought his first record, Breakfast in the Field, and everything changed. In my opinion, no one has come close to Hedges when it comes to pure creativity and originality.
