My first contract with G Adventures in Antarctica was a deeply moving experience. There really is no way to describe Antarctica except that it is both beautiful and terrifying. Of the many things that make the secret continent so fantastic is its absolute absence of green. Except for lichen and the odd tuft of grass there is no plant life, no smell of bursting buds in spring, no decaying leaves in fall. It is arid and sterile as all deserts are. So after a week or more in this world of rock and ice, returning to Argentina via the spectacularly verdant Beagle Channel is always a joyful revival of the senses. This tune was inspired by that arrival.
